The Heart of
Hope Dawn

Since 1827, Hope Dawn has stood above the James River — built by a Virginia druggist whose most famous resident was a blind enslaved fife player so beloved that the people of Lynchburg bought his freedom. It survived the Civil War, changed hands through deed after deed, and sat quietly for decades until a family in the 1960s stripped back a century of changes and found the original bones waiting underneath.

Some places accumulate history. Hope Dawn is one of them. We're honored to be its next chapter.

Stewards of
the Land

We are only the fifth owners of Hope Dawn in nearly 200 years — and we don't take that lightly. From the moment we first drove through these woods, past the stone walls and down toward the river bend, we knew this place was something to be cared for, not just owned.

Our mission is to preserve its history, restore its grounds, and build something the community can be proud of. We believe a place this rare deserves to be shared — and we're committed to the people, stories, and experiences that will carry Hope Dawn into its next chapter.
